The Scholastic Chess of Indiana held its individual championships in Hammond on January 29. 214 students showed up at Hammond Central High School to fight it out in 7 sections. Congratulations to our new state champions – Braydon Povinelli in 12th Grade and Under Championship, Parth Patel in 8th Grade and Under Championship, and Arjun Raman in 6th Grade and Under Championship. These three will be eligible to represent Indiana at the national invitationals this summer in California. Other section winners were Atharve Manojkumar in 3rd Grade and Under, Hayden Ogburn in 12th Grade and Under JV, Vishwak Guntupalli in 8th Grade and Under JV, and Charlie Bolt in 6th Grade and Under JV.
